Show Dates 2009:

5th July 2009

No I haven’t been thrown in jail or been abducted by aliens! I’ve just been plain old busy with some domestic refurbishment and an engine campaign in my real job. So WEEAC just got put onto the back seat of a stretched limo for the last couple of months. Ok, that’s enough whingeing its time to give that limo a cut and shunt and lets see were we’ve gotten to in this rather large time lapse.

Who remembers the Gripen? Well it’s finished (hoorah) and ready to buy. Shall we take a look? OK.

That’s a very sporty paint job!

A welcome splash of colour supplied on the tail.

And it’s another side opener.

There’s also a virtual visit to the Flygavpenmuseum in Linkoping Sweden on this disc.

A great museum this one!

I suppose you will want something nice to keep all this info safe. Will this do?

Yes indeed, it’s going to be very safe in there.

Wait that’s not all, our next disc is almost complete as well, so who’s up for a sneaky look at the cover of this one too?

Trust me you won’t have to wait too long for this to appear in our shop. Actually if you want you can order this, its really that close to being finished.

After this one (just like buses), there’s another. The next title in preparation is, Hasegawa’s F-104 Starfighter in Marineflieger colours, nice. Well that’s it, see you all again soon (promise).

28th March 2009

Do you remember the enthusiasm we had last review for this next project of ours, the Gripen? Well have we got a story for you! This story almost had the worst ending possible for us, the bining of the entire project no less. But as you can see from the fact that we’re writing this update at all that a new and more optimistic ending may be in sight. That ending will have to wait until, well, the end I suppose but we can tell you about the beginning though, when at least we were smiling more.

A box full of bits and all for a reasonable price too.

Here’s the office, before…

and after. It’s a shame that Italeri didn’t put some lumps and bumps under those decals, it would have made a huge difference to the over all look.

With the fuselage together, you suddenly realise how compact the Gripen is.

Well that’s that for now but we will be back with hopefully that happier ending (fingers crossed).

24th February 2009

Is this what they call “fashionably late” these days? No not really, just loads of other stuff getting in the way! Well the other stuffs done and so is the show at Yeovilton. Good it was too and very nice to see old friends and meet new alike. Yes the Corsair’s had their moment in the spot light for all to see and now it’s your turn. Are you sitting comfortably? Here we go.

First up is the old boy, Tamiya’s F4U-1.

Followed by Hasegawa’s not so old F4U-5N.

The two of them side by side…

                                      …and on the disc too!

So another one (or is that two) bits the dust

What’s that! What’s next? Well we’ll tell you. No.21 will be Italeri’s 1/48 Saab JAS 39 Gripen Twin Seater. This one completes our European trilogy of forth generation aircraft, joining Typhoon and Rafale in our range. OK, I guess that’s us done, see you all some time in the future.

23rd January 2009

Here we go our first update of 2009 and as you can see from the show dates above our annual pilgrimage to Yeovilton is only of three weeks away. Hang on a minute; what’s all this talk of ttree weeks in the future, its what’s happened in the last few weeks that you guys want to know about. Well let’s have a look shall we.

Both sets of wings are complete (-5N top –1 bottom), with some very nice flap detail on show (and no we’re not making some kind of weird Corsair biplane).

Look, some bodies have attached themselves to our wings (-1 left –5N right) (no, its not going to be a Zwilling either).

What's happened here, we’re in the paint shop with the –5N and its been covered with our old friend, trusty Halfords primer.

What the, now someone’s gone and drawn lines all over the –1. You can’t turn your back for one minute around here!

OK, jokes aside the next time you see these guys they’ll be various shades of blue and very finished. All this we hope will coincide with that Yeovilton date above. So I’d better go, as we’re going to be very, very busy in the next couple of weeks!

20th December 2008

I bet you all thought we were going to forget to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Wrong! But, we did forget to tell you what the subject of the next disc was going to be though! Navigator No.20 (roll on drums) is to be the Chance Vought Corsair. This will be another two aircraft disc, comprising of Tamiya’s 1/48th F4U-1 and Hasegawa’s 1/48 F4U-5N.

So which one comes first you’re thinking, is it….

…Tamiya…

…Or …

…Hasegawa?

We couldn’t choose either, so we did them both together.

As usual it all starts with the office (-5N on the left and -1 on the right).

Both fuselages are almost ready for those offices (-1on the left and -5N on the right).

Of course all offices need power (-1 top -5N bottom).

OK, lets not get greedy here, that’s your lot for 2008. It will be 2009 by the time you get the next instalment (scary, where does the time go). So on that note, it is time indeed to wish all our customers, old and new, a Very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

David, Steve and Wendy.

13th November 2008

That was a tuff schedule but by George I think we’ve done it! Yes, the Nimrod disc is finished in time for Telford (just). Want some proof? Ok, here it is.

Oh yes, it is real.

How about some photos of the kit as well!

Good impression of a Unicorn.

What a big bomb bay you have dear.

Booming marvellous.

We’re going to keep this short and sweet, as there’s still some tweaking to do. But, I’d better mention that to coincide with Telford, we will be placing a limited number of flyers complete with special offer attached (conditions apply) on the information table. So grab one and get yourself a bargain to boot.

15th October 2008

Yeah, midweek that caught you out didn’t it.

Ok, its Nimrod time. First thing that strikes you on looking in the box is one of quality not normally associated with Airfix but then, you should never judge something totally on your first impressions (more on that later). The one observation that cannot be denied at this stage is the size of this beasty, oh yes its big alright even in this scale. No polyurethane wrapped kit rattling around in an over sized box here!

See, told you so.

Right then it looks good and we now know it’s large, but how does all this plastic actually go together?

As with quite a bit of 1/72 stuff, detail is sometimes not that high on the priority list. That said, I guess you won’t see much of it in the end anyway.

She’s already starting to take shape.

Look at all those clamps suckling on that wing, how sweet. (Well done Mother wing).

“Alakazam”. It’s all altogether and by George she’s primed too.

Flipped over (with no little effort, I might add) it gets the pre-shading treatment.

So, I guess the next time you see her you’ll be expecting it all ship (plane) shaped and Bristol fashion? You know what that means for us don’t you, yep; we’d better pull those tiny little digits of yours out and stop this nattering. We’re on it.

12th September 2008

Well I’ve failed again to keep my promise to be early but its not my fault really as “she who must be obeyed” insisted that we had a sun break So we’re back from a week in Malta refreshed and ready to get back to the business of “Navigators”.

Right then, lets see if that Rafale is finished yet?

I think we can call this finished, don’t you.

From back to front!

Even the disc is ready too.

Look old and new working together.

Ok. So that’s No.18 in the bag (or in this case, a case), what’s No.19 to be?

Anyone care for a Nimrod.

Yes, its back to Airfix but this time one of their brand new releases. For us its new in another way too as this will be our first venture into the world of 1/72nd.Before we go our Adversary disc has been reduced and is now the same price as the other title in our range, so grab your self a bargain. Right must dash, see you all soon (oh yeah) with news on the Nimrods progress.

29th July 2008

Bonjour. Shall we continue with the second part of this our French Aeronavale special?

Yes!

Ok let’s see how the new kid on the block (or carrier in this case) the Rafale M sizes up.

This first bit is becoming a little repetitive, as its yet another very good-looking box full from Revell…...

…….which builds into another very good office straight from the box.

The rest of the parts don’t look that bad either and that shape is already gathering momentum right in front of our very eyes.

The plan view also doesn’t look to bad and as you can see is benefiting from a coat of good old Halfords grey primer topped off with some pre-shading.

Gently does it with the final colour so that we build up a realistic finish. Too much and all that pre-shading will be lost.

So I guess its time for us to say Au Revoir for now, and arrange to meet up again this time in the not to distant future.

28th June 2008

Right then, who would like to watch Sue get all dressed up? Yes, ok lets go take a peek.

The first layer we put on her is yep, you guessed it good old Halfords primer. Almost the right colour too!

Followed by some blu tack worms, thus achieving that “must have” two-tone look.

Greys never seem to be out of fashion these days, do they?………..

…But that said, I must confess it still has a classic look to it. Sue does indeed look very smart for her age.

No matter which angle you look at her from. “Ooo, la, la.”

Well that’s it until next time, when it’s the turn of the new kid on the block comes out to give us a twirl.

23rd May 2008

Hello, its update time again so lets see where we’ve got to since last time.

As we said next up is a French Aeronaval special featuring two kits? Revell’s Rafale M and…

... first one up for us, Airfix’s Super Etendard. (Or Sue to her friends.)

Cockpit parts detached and we’re ready to go!

When assembled they look quite reasonable and the colour helps here too.

For an older kit some of the parts fit very well. (Sue has kept her shape.)

Right then; before I shoot off don’t forget to tune in near the end of next month to see Sailor Sue's further adventures in modelling, she should look good after going through the paint shop.

Goodbye.

28th April 2008

I know, I’m a little late. So I won’t waste any more of your time with waffle we’ll just jump straight in shall we!

At last, you gasp. One finished Hawk.

Yes I know, it could be another one the time we’ve been…...

…..but it’s the same one.

Though there are some other Trainer type things on this disc.

With the Hawk done I bet your wondering what’s next for us here at WEEAC. Well No. 18 is going to be a French Aeronavale double bill featuring Airfix/Heller Super Etenard and Revell’s Rafale-M. Bet you can’t wait for that one, but you’ll have to, so see ya (don’t worry it will be sooner rather than latter, I promise).
